The latest news from Wish Poosh

Our Island is no longer an Island and again we were full to brim with campers. Think this was a record weekend with 170 campers on Friday night! Wow! Busy, busy... thought with Island road open, we would not be swamped at boat launch area... WRONG! Early had to spend several hours out there trying to keep peace with all the boat traffic and parking... you would think with a parking lot to accomodate 31 boat trailer spaces we would have enough room but not when you add in the picnic er's. They will use those spaces and that is what we try to keep them from doing. It is a juggle to be sure.. anyway, we got lucky when a thunder storm broke and sent people dashing from the lake to their vehicles... Early had to hide under trees until I could get to him (I was out doing camp chores like cleaning restrooms) ha! Fun, fun... only one group all weekend we had to speak to after 10pm to remind of "quite time". Interesting how they WAIT until 10pm to turn on their music? Wha

One Eyed Jack - No, it's only Early

So now we have Early running around with a eye patch in preparation of upcoming surgery in Sept. T his is meant to help his brain/eye coordination - Campers look at him a little funny but it keeps life fun. what the heck... Meanwhile, we have been having a very busy summer thus far with Lake Kachess mostly closed down, and those campers coming our way. Have had some great families with kids all over the place, riding bikes and dodging down trails... makes this job all the more enjoyable! Even had one of the grandchildren's friends from school show up for a weekend! Small world.. Our Island is no longer an island, so much more activity out that way which sort of adds work to our load, but it is nice to be able to have that picnic area open for folks too.

Orphans at Wish Poosh

4th of July was Great! No rowdies! Only nice family groups and some of our favorite campers from last year came back so that was a plus too! We did have an interesting thing happen. Some of our campers in #15 (one of my favorite sites) was leaving and stopped by to let us know that when the pulled up their tent they learned they had a family under it! Mama died protecting her young and here is pic of her young in nest of chewed up toilet paper! they placed a piece of fern and wood over site in ground... yippee. Now what do we do? We left them alone but then new campers came in and wonder of wonders they did not disturb this nest as they made up camp. We did tell them about this little group of orphans (4 young women) - no idea what will happen to them but can tell you we have a trap set in our basement storage for little critters like this. We have already caught about 10-12 and am sure we will have more before summer season is over! We do not want to catch them in trap thou

RECORD WEEKEND

The past weekend deserves special note: No Problems! Wow! No campers destroying any growing plants/trees! No huge logs to carry out of campfire pits for the dumpster! No noise from loud groups! Just wonderful, cheerful campers enjoying the nice weather and friendly atmosphere! Great!!! So P L E A S E D ! ! ! ! One more note to add; we did have a site with a few folks making a bit of noise on Friday and our friendly "cop" who prowls the night was watching them from the dark as he is known to do when lo and behold he spotted 3 people trying to sneak in through the brush to possibly "rip off" some unsuspecting camper of ??? - he turned his flashlight on to them and they took off running back to road and took off in car waiting on street... too much... we have not had any reports of stolen goods but perhaps is because we have a guardian in the night looking over us.

A visit from Grands

Nothing quite like having the "grands" for a little visit. They had a great time helping with the cleaning of campsites and running through the brush. Only problem was a rash that ensued.. ha. Poor little thing was allergic to something. No poison ivy or oak we know of so who knows - all fine now.
