Sedona, AZ

Image
Took advantage of the  beautiful day while daughter Scarlett was here visiting and took ride up to the beautiful little town of Sedona for a day hike.  She had never been there before so was quite a treat for her.  It is a long ride but with the sky crystal clear it was so pretty.  Didn't do much of a hike since the warmest it was all day was 37 but we did get a little bit of walking and a lot of sight seeing.  So much to see there hard to cover all in one day but it gives her a glimpse of some place to come back to another time.  We have enjoyed having her with us these past few days.  She leaves this afternoon and we will miss her but so thankful for the short time we've had and of course we'll see her again this summer once we make our trek north.

Tree trimming time!

Image
It is amazing how each day we look out our front window to see the sun rise and sun set a blast of color!  Just love it and look forward to those time each day.  On the other had our beautiful Canary Island Palm has attracted much attention over it's need for a trim.  So today Early climbed on the ladder and had a great time trimming off all the dead fronds and other dead stuff! What a mess and those fronds are big!  Looks much nicer and now we have a load for the dump but the tree looks good.  Many folks trim theirs back much farther but I like it the way it is bushy! ha!  Look at the blue sky!  You would never know yesterday we had grey skies and rain threats!  We did get a few drops of rain but nothing measurable!

Happy New Year!

Not a good picture but hey we take what we can... 2012 was a B I G year for us starting in Jan in Florida, working way across country; buying a house and joining a community!  So to end the year we had dinner with friends and then attended the annual New Year's Eve party a few blocks away at the Community Center.  We were taken under one of our neighbors wing and had the pleasure of meeting a lot of new folks and enjoying the evening very much.  The music was probably the best I've ever noticed at a party like this!  I could have stayed forever with all the great tunes from the 30's on down... so fun and such a friendly bunch of folks all sharing nibbles and hats and being silly and dancing and just chatting and having a good time.  The ball dropped in NYC at midnight and we called it a night here at 10pm but did stay a little longer - no one was in big hurry to leave.  Bad news is woke up next day with relapse of cold! Ugh!  This darn thing won't go away and it's

Goldfield, AZ and Lake Roosevelt

Image
While Joyce and Dave were here visiting this winter we all decided we needed to go for a loop drive starting at Goldfield Ghost Town and up around Lake Roosevelt and Tonto National Monument and back thru the little town of Globe.  Long day and cold!  Miserably cold but we made the best of it.. didn't do the hike up to the ruins at Tonto National Monument due to cold season but had good time just the same.  Do not recommend this loop drive since miles and miles are on a windy narrow dirt road but it was good to do once! ha!  Enjoyed our little picnic and seeing the ring necked ducks and Great Blue Heron!  Imagine such critters out there!
