Tennis anyone?

Spending time here in Pacific Northwest has been very dreary with all the grey damp days; however there have been a few bright spots.  Thanks to a phone call from our new son-in-law we decided to get out our old tennis rackets and dust them off and see if we could still hit the ball. To our amazement we could and thus joined Scarlett and Kenny for a little tennis.  Spent a few hours working with the “grands” on tennis also since Mary has signed Bekah up for “real” lessons. Ha!  Enjoyed it very much although I don’t seem to cover the court nearly quick enough and Earl’s shoulder really bothers him the next day!  Oh well…

Lake Diablo, North Cascades National Park

Image
Took a little side trip up to the North Cascades National Park on one of our rare sunny days this summer (so far). Beautiful hardly describes the scenery. Just loved it. Took a nice hike and picnic here at the overlook of this lovely lake. Enjoyed it very much and recommend it to all. No entrance fee here. Just a very lovely day and surroundings. One of those places that make you feel good you're able to get out and enjoy!

Kingston, WA

Check out the beautiful flowers! I was wowed! Took day trip over to Bremerton to visit our very good friends and came back via ferry from Kingston. It has been years since we have been over here and so many changes... These flowers were so gorgeous though on what could be termed as another grey day in Junuary here in the Pacific Northwest!

Baker Lake Dam

Image
Took a drive up to see the dam that we thought we had seen before in another lifetime but weren't real sure until we saw it again. ha! Yikes what is happening here? The rain sprinkled on us off and on however we did have a nice drive (very scenic) and enjoyed getting out and walking across the dam. This dam has booms set out and fish ponds on it... saw their fish trucks to gather the fish for stocking in other places as well. Nice lake with a number of campgrounds scattered around it too. Never did see Mount Baker (too many clouds all day) but enjoyed the outing just the same. A very pretty part of this state!

Grandy Creek TTN, Concrete, WA

Happy this park has been brought back into the 'fold' of TTN. Lovely setting up near town of Concrete off Hwy 20. Lovely small park on Grandy Creek. Nice location to take side trip up to Mount Baker or over Hwy 20 to North Cascades National Park! Not far from Burlington outlets center either for that matter! We loved the meadows and sunny sites; 50 amp power and ease of spaces..... This park is just getting up and running again (they close in winter) and serve breakfast only at this time on Saturday's. Otherwise not much going on but they do have a doggie area and mini golf and nice little rental cabins too.

Annual Fish stocking @ Lake Stickney

Image
This year we both attended the annual stocking of fish in Lake Stickney. In the past, if we were in the area I would take the two grands, but this year Early came too and so did dau. Mary. Although the place had to be changed to the public fishing dock instead of a private home, there was a big turn out and it's always fun to see those fish go down the shoot! They swim like heck up stream but to no avail of course. Funny how that is their instinct. So glad we were able to attend and it turned out to be one the few sunny days! A rarity for this part of the country this year.

New computer time...ugh

Time once again to purchase new computer???  It would appear that once again the darn thing has just decided to up and quit working.  darn... The electronics now a days are so chintzy... breaking down every two years or so to force you to purchase new... that would be my cinical guess!  Anyway, trying this new out and seems to work ok. Nice job on a very rainy and wet day! We have had so much rain we were both thinking it may have been better to have an ark!  Ok, smile...
