San Simeon St Park, San Simeon, CA

Upon leaving Santa Barbara we headed north on Hwy 101 to San Simeon. Okay, so we planned our escape to beat the incoming storm that was due and were rolling along just fine when some lady flagged Earl down that we had flat tire on the car! How can this be when these tires are relatively new.. just purchased a year ago in OR from Costco... Tire was flat and we thought punctured altho that turned out to NOT be the case. Knew there was Costco in San Luis Obispo but that was a distance away so brother John and I watched as Earl dutifully changed the tire and put donut spare on... then we found a Costco about a mile away in Santa Maria. Counted this a real PLUS and yes, they honored their warranty and we now have a new tire... Rest of trip fairly uneventful and we counted ourselves blessed and very happy that no damage was done on car as very well could have...

Although the campground was very wet when we arrived we found our favorite site open with all around views of hillsides and yes, even the ocean from up there on the hill. Walked down to the beach for this shot of the water and saw the wildlife all around us, hawks, deer and other birds in abundance. We always enjoy this place so much.

A short visit with family

Always happy to see family, we took advantage of a few days off and drove over (in car only) to see daughter Mary and her family in Las Vegas. We stayed in rental cabin at Thousand Trails which was much more cost effective than driving rig over... wonderful to see them as always. Jason had never been there before so we walked our legs off visiting the various "shows" and hotels. The grandkids loved it and we loved seeing them. This is picture from Sam's Town where they have a waterfall show in afternoon.

Merry Christmas!

This year has been so different for us with decorating.  1st time with real tree in 13 years!  We have ornaments from all over the country so all with memories attached besides older ones we did manage to hang on to when we 1st went full-timing.  We even have a few strings of lights out in the front yard.  Our neighbors were feeling like grinch after seeing our house so have joined in the fun of decorating too.  It has been a busy time - went to Senior Talent show here in our little community and that was fun.  92 year old lady in red sequin dress; wow!  She looked and sang like 92 but she was having a gay ol time and we loved it!  I was impressed with the "tappers"; a group of about 6 ladies all seniors with their old tap dancing skills and the cutest outfits that one in particular had the skill to make for all!  Very nice indeed.  Last evening had a local church choir put on a show for us older folks which was very nice and so great t...

Sea World, San Diego, CA

A little "perk" from the Family gathering; an invitation to visit Sea World with sister Sandra and family.  Spencer has worked for Sea World for 20 years now and he gave us a  lot of inside info on some of these wonderful animals.  What a joy to spend day with family and see all these marvelous animals too.  They are wonderful creatures and we learned so much about sea stars; bat rays; killer whales, dolphins etc... they have sea turtles now too that have been given to them from confiscations of illegal catches... interesting.  A wonderful day!  A bit tired at the end but then we aren't youngsters anymore either. ha!
