Plymouth, MA

Back to Plymouth for another fun day.  Took walking tour through the town to see the historic sites such as the Jabez Howland house that was actually built by one of the pilgrims and is still standing.  They have a number of historic homes still in use today although the town has really crowded in around them.  No yards to speak of but still fun to see and read the placques.  While walking thru town and visiting Plymouth rock and the Monument to immigrants found a wedding going on in Brewster park.  Fun and pretty day.  One of the greatest things they have done in that town is build the enormous National Monument to the Forefathers. Largest solid granite monument in America. It is 216 times life-size.  Dedicated to the virtues of the Pilgrims, major figures represented are Faith, Freedom, Morality, Law and Education. Very cool! Loved it..
Of course we had to walk the waterfront and visit the Mayflower II and wonder how in the world did they ever travel in these horrible little ships with all their gear for months at a time without decent holding tanks etc... Makes these times look so much better in some ways...
