Mt St Helens; May's Lake

Working our way north we stayed a few nights near St Mary's just above Mays Lake with a wonderful view of Mt St Helens in the distance.  Of course she is hard to see because her top is missing.  She blew her top back in May of 1980 (a day I well remember)!  Lovely view our 1st day here and from then on someone let the word out we had returned to Washington and the flood gates were opened.  We never did have another opportunity to see this view... the clouds moved in that very evening and STAYED!  So funny and typical but yes, this is Washington and this is typical June weather.  We know this but somehow after spending a delightful winter in the sunshine and clear blue skies we somehow dimmed the memory of the grey, wet days. ha!  While in this area we did venture out one day to visit the Mossyrock dam and the Mays Dam on the cowlitz river.  One note, our son-in-law caught a wonderful 10lb king salmon on this very river just a few days before we arrived!  It is a favorite fishing hole just below May's dam.
